Brew Crew Ball Daily Question: When did you become a true Brewer fan, and why?
Continuing our February Daily Question series, we’re kicking off today's conversation with a question that might stir some passion: When did you become a die-hard Brewer fan?
For me, someone who entered this world in the early 2000s, I've been fortunate to experience baseball's highs and lows. I fell in love with the sport at age five, but it was through playing rather than watching. The 2007 and 2008 seasons were my first real introduction to Brewer baseball, as I followed their playoff races with bated breath.
That's when CC Sabathia became my favorite player, and he's remained a top pick ever since (I've mentioned this before, but Sal Frelick takes the cake, simply because his last name is so close to mine). My fandom blossomed during the 2010s, a time when Milwaukee's Brewers were consistently competing for playoff spots.
I've been to playoff games at Miller Park/American Family Field with my dad in 2018, 2021, 2023, and 2024. One of those games, the NL Wild Card loss to the Mets in 2024, was particularly emotional. It was also my dad's last game, as he passed away from Parkinson's disease and Lewy body dementia in January 2025. To honor his memory, I attended the Brewers' NLDS wins over the Cubs in 2025, including the epic Game 5, and Game 1 of the NLCS against the Dodgers with friends and family.
My love for the Brewers has only grown stronger, even though they've had their fair share of disappointing postseason moments. But that's the beauty of sports, right? It's all about the journey, not just the destination.
