Breaking News: A New Dawn for Candidates with Disabilities!
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has taken a bold step towards inclusivity by updating disability certificate rules, and the impact is massive!
But here's where it gets controversial...
The SSC, in line with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), has simplified the disability certificate process, replacing three forms with just two. This move aims to streamline verification and ensure uniformity across exams, benefiting lakhs of aspirants.
Form 5 is now for single disabilities, and Form 6 for multiple disabilities. A simple yet effective change, right?
And this is the part most people miss...
The SSC has also reintroduced the 'own scribe' facility with new rules. A major relief for persons with benchmark disabilities (PwBD), this decision ensures candidates can maintain autonomy while adhering to strict standards.
The scribe's age must match the qualification level of the exam, with specific age limits for matriculation, Class 12, and graduate-level papers. Additionally, Aadhaar-based authentication is now compulsory for all scribes.
But here's the catch: If Aadhaar verification fails at the exam venue, candidates must choose between a Commission-provided scribe or attempting the paper without one.
Furthermore, SSC has enabled self-slot selection for upcoming Junior Engineer (JE) and Sub-Inspector (SI) exams, giving candidates more control over their exam dates.
So, what do you think? Is this a step towards a more inclusive and efficient system? Or are there potential pitfalls we should consider?
