Role Overview:
The MNCAH Technical Specialist will be a key player in Save the Children's mission to strengthen health systems and improve outcomes for vulnerable populations. As a senior member of the Program Development, Quality, and Impact (PDQI) team, you will provide strategic guidance and technical expertise across the organization's health initiatives.
Your role will involve designing and implementing innovative, cost-effective programs that address the unique needs of mothers, newborns, children, and adolescents. You will collaborate closely with national and county health authorities, ensuring that evidence-based interventions are seamlessly integrated into policies and programs.

In addition to your technical prowess, you will be expected to navigate the complex landscape of donor engagement and advocacy. Can you strike a balance between delivering high-quality programs and maintaining strong relationships with donors and partners? Key Responsibilities:
Program Design and Proposal Development: Develop sustainable proposals for high-impact MNCAH interventions, identifying gaps in coverage and proposing solutions. Collaborate with health authorities and promote the integration of MNCAH with complementary sectors like Nutrition, WASH, and Education.
Technical Leadership and Innovation: Serve as the go-to technical resource, guiding program teams and partners in strategy development and implementation. Champion innovation by piloting and scaling cost-effective approaches, and enhance the capacity of field teams.
Quality Assurance: Provide technical guidance to ensure program quality and impact. Support monitoring, identify challenges, and propose solutions. Prepare and review high-quality donor reports, ensuring timely and accurate communication.
Representation and Partnerships: Represent Save the Children in technical forums and collaborate with internal teams to identify donor engagement opportunities. Strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders and produce compelling advocacy materials.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning: Conduct field visits to monitor program quality, identify bottlenecks, and support teams in overcoming implementation challenges. Work with MEAL teams to develop benchmarks, strengthen data utilization, and identify research opportunities.
Knowledge Management: Develop knowledge products, ensure robust monitoring frameworks, and lead strategic research initiatives. Disseminate research findings and good practices to stakeholders, donors, and internal teams to enhance learning and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A bachelor's degree in medicine and a postgraduate qualification in medicine, nursing, public health, or global health.
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in MNCAH programming, including senior-level responsibilities.
- Essential experience within Kenya's devolved health system.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing high-quality MNCAH programs in diverse settings.
- Strong research and advocacy skills, with experience engaging institutional and private donors.
- Ability to travel extensively, strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and analytical capacity.
