Most recently, Lexton served as Merlin's COO, a role he took on in April 2020. With this promotion, he steps into the shoes of Jeremy Sirota, the outgoing CEO.

From negotiating deals with digital service providers (DSPs) and social media platforms to partnering with innovative companies like ElevenLabs, Lexton has been at the forefront of Merlin's success.
But it's not just about the deals; Lexton has played a crucial role in shaping Merlin's legal and business landscape. He was instrumental in resolving peer-to-peer copyright infringement litigation with LimeWire, facilitating the transfer of Parlophone Label Group to the independent sector, and orchestrating the sale of Merlin's equity interest in Spotify, which resulted in a massive payout of over $125 million for its members.
Lexton's journey in the music industry is nothing short of impressive. Starting as a DJ, writer, and producer, he co-founded London's Dorado Records. After qualifying as a lawyer, he worked at UMG and EMI, leading business affairs for EMEA ex-UK. Just before joining Merlin, Lexton co-owned and ran another independent label, City Rockers.
The trust and respect Lexton has earned within Merlin are undeniable. Darius Van Arman, Merlin's chairperson and co-CEO of Secretly Group, praised Lexton's consistent delivery of immense value throughout Merlin's history.

And this is the part most people miss... Lexton's appointment comes at a time when Merlin is riding high. The organization recently announced its 2024 accounts, boasting record-high revenue of $1.64 billion and an administration fee at an all-time low of 1%.
