MotoGP star Marc Marquez's fans can breathe a sigh of relief! His manager, Jaime Martinez, has provided an optimistic update on the champion's recovery from a shoulder injury, stating, 'He'll be back on the bike sooner than you think.'
The 32-year-old's racing world was rocked when he tangled with Marco Bezzecchi during the Indonesian Grand Prix's opening lap, resulting in a complex right shoulder injury.
Initially, surgery wasn't deemed essential, but Marquez eventually underwent the procedure to enhance his recovery. Consequently, he's been sidelined for the remainder of the 2025 season.
But here's where it gets controversial: Marquez's recovery timeline is projected to extend until the 2026 pre-season testing, yet Martinez assures us that 'everything is evolving' positively.
When will Marquez be cleared to ride again? Martinez predicts it will be soon, but he acknowledges that the doctors have the final say. He shared, 'The recovery is progressing well, one step at a time. We're adhering meticulously to the medical advice, and we're on track with our timeline. Everything is going better than expected.'
And this is the part most people miss: When pressed for a return date, Martinez deferred to the medical team, emphasizing the severity of the injury and the need for patience. He added, 'As soon as the doctors give the green light, Marc will be back on the bike. He's working tirelessly to enhance his recovery and is eager to get back in the saddle.'
Dr. Angel Charte, MotoGP's medical officer, supported Marquez's decision to end his 2025 season early, stating that rushing his return could have jeopardized his entire career.
Interestingly, Marquez's injury occurred just days after he clinched his seventh MotoGP world title, his first in six years. Despite the complexity, he managed to avoid aggravating a previous serious injury to his humerus from 2020.
As the season draws to a close, Ducati World Superbike's Nicolo Bulega will fill Marquez's shoes for the final races in Portugal and Valencia. Meanwhile, the champion himself will make an appearance at the post-season awards gala in Valencia next week.
Stay tuned for more updates on Marquez's recovery and the MotoGP world. Will he make a full comeback? Share your thoughts in the comments!
